We will continue to operate our core programmes – Eco Church, Wild Christian, Partners in Action and Reserves – in a form adapted to the crisis:
> Eco Church – Our web-based Eco Church registration and award system will continue to operate and we continue to offer support to the Eco Church community by email and phone. Some events, such as the St Andrew’s, Rugby Eco Church conference in May, have been cancelled but watch this space for Eco Church conference dates later this year.
> Wild Christian – In response to this difficult time, we will be producing a fortnightly email for individuals and families for the duration of the lockdown so that we can more frequently be in touch with our supporters. We’ve also re-written our latest monthly email to the theme of ‘nature and hope’. The email includes practical ways to enjoy, nurture and defend nature close to home and shares a reflection on Psalm 23:4. Please do share this with family and friends to whom it could be helpful in this unprecedented time of lockdown, isolation and anxiety because of the pandemic.
> Partners in Action – Our Partners are currently closed to guests and groups, and all April and May events have been postponed. Scheduled events from June are subject to change and cancellation. Please check our Partners’ websites for the most up to date information. Our Partners’ survival depends on guests and events and many will struggle financially during this difficult time. Please join us in praying for them. Click here for some recent conservation updates from our Partners in Action.
> Reserves – Our Reserve Managers, Kailean Khongsai at Wolf Fields, and Mark Prina at Foxearth Meadows, will continue maintaining the reserves. However because of the need to retain social distance, and some volunteers being particularly vulnerable to infection, all volunteer work has been temporarily suspended. For many of them, work on the reserves is not only helpful for A Rocha UK, but a key part of their lives. Please pray for them in isolation. For Kailean and Mark, managing the reserves without assistance is also a huge task. Please do remember Kailean and Mark in your prayers too.
Unfortunately the Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to cancel our long planned Supporter Days and Church Demonstration Days scheduled to take place at the reserves this spring and early summer. We hope we may be able to reschedule these to later summer and autumn depending on the length of the Covid-19 lockdown. Look out for details in future eNews and on the web.
Our office> To protect our staff, volunteers and the wider community, our office-based staff and interns will be working from home until further notice. We are able to send out small quantities of leaflets, but are unable to send out larger quantities of resources or Eco Church plaques for the time being. We are sorry for these delays and thank you for bearing with us.
For any enquiries, please continue to get in touch via email: uk@arocha.org or by telephone: 020 8574 5935.
