dragonflyA Rocha UK has been a hive of activity this summer, with exciting advances both at Wolf Fields and our new project, Foxearth.

In July the bees arrived at Wolf Fields, we now have two hives at the site both of which are flourishing. Local school children have named the queens in each hive Queen A and Queen B. The bees are proving to be a valuable asset to the Wolf Fields site, enjoyed by children on educational visits and our regular volunteers.
This summer has also seen the emergence of a new and unique mentoring scheme, organised through A Rocha UK. The scheme is designed to link emerging conservation professionals with senior leadership in the conservation world. This will provide mentees with a point of contact for prayer and reflection as they progress in the sphere of nature conservation as well as someone to offer them the support and encouragement they need to become the next generation of leaders and policy-makers in nature conservation.

At Foxearth this summer has seen the appointment of a new part-time ranger. A Rocha UK purchased Foxearth in February this year, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. The new ranger will be instrumental in getting the reserve up and running and, over time, developing it into an important sanctuary for dragonflies and damselflies. In the years to come it is hoped that Foxearth will blossom into a place where everyone can come to experience the beauty of God’s creation.

As the summer draws to a close we look forward to the developments the autumn will bring, including the appointment of a new CEO and the beginning of work on the sensory garden at Wolf Fields.
