A number of different organisations (including A Rocha UK) pounded the streets of London and New York in September as part of the People’s Climate March as they demanded action at the UN Climate Summit. A gathering of religious environmentalists called Religions for the Earth was also held at Union Theological Seminary whilst the summit was taking place.
This has highlighted the growing movement of faith communities speaking out about climate change. 28 different religious faiths and denominations are represented in the list of organisations who endorsed the climate march.
Rowan Williams (former Archbishop of Canterbury) has written in the Guardian recently about the need for politicians to think long term on issues surrounding climate change and the forthcoming negotiations and deals that will be made in Paris next year. But actions are needed this year if the climate change conference is to have meaningful and successful results.
