Abseiling with Adventure PlusA monk, a mountaineer and a money guru walk into a field – but it’s no joke. It will take place at daring new event Wild Wonderful World.

Run by A Rocha UK with outdoor pursuits centre Adventure Plus, the spring conference will mix environment with energy in a pulsating programme based on ‘reconnecting faith, adventure and caring for God’s world’.

HIGHEST MOUNTAIN

The ‘monk’ is Brother Sam of Hilfield Friary, a community that helps people reconnect with nature. The ‘mountaineer’ is Jo Gambi, the only woman to have climbed the highest mountain on every continent. The ‘money guru’ is former finance expert David Nussbaum, now chief of World Wildlife Fund UK.

They are key speakers at Wild Wonderful World, which runs from 22nd – 24th April 2016 at the 50-acre Windmill Farm. Also contributing are A Rocha UK Conservation Director Andy Lester and Adventure Plus founder Jon Cox.

Suitable for anyone over 18, the event will include practical options from bushcraft and bonfires, through to kayaking and wildlife trails. Evenings will be rounded up with an informal campfire allowing time to reflect and respond.

‘This is a unique opportunity to explore many of the current challenges facing the planet among like-minded people,’ said Andy Lester and Jon Cox in a joint statement. ‘Inspiring workshops will allow delegates to discuss innovative and novel ideas for a more hope-filled future.’

An interdenominational charity, Adventure Plus has worked with more than 60,000 young people and adults through outdoor adventures since 1990 – including some of the most vulnerable in society.
